Reception to Honor the 32 Year Career of Senator Bob M Dearing

ROXIE, MS - Former Senator Robert 'Bob' M Dearing, a native of Natchez, Ms, served 32 years of distinguished service to The State of Mississippi and the citizens of Adams, Amite, Franklin, Pike and Wilkinson Counties. In his honor, many friends, citizens and colleagues will offer their tributes at a reception on Saturday, March 10, 2012 beginning at 5:00 PM at the Natchez Convention Center, 211 Main St, Natchez, Ms.  The planned program and reception is free and open to the public with refreshments served.
  


Robert 'Bob' M Dearing and his wife Shelley have three children; Bo, Daye and Paige.  Dearing was born in Natchez, Ms in January 1935.  A graduate of Natchez High School, he lettered in four sports: baseball, football, basketball, and volleyball and as a Senior served as his Class President.


After graduation, he entered Delta State College where he continued to play sports, lettering in football and baseball.  In his Senior Year at DSC he was elected President of the Student Government Association. 


The Hall of Fame Room at the Dorgan Athletic facility at Delta State’s Parker Field is named in his honor.


Dearing was elected to the Mississippi State Senate in 1980 and served for 32 continuous years.
