11 Year Old Justin Emfinger Making Outstanding Progress

April 16, 2012
ROXIE, MS -  11 year old Franklin County resident Justin Emfinger is progressing well as reported by his father Bryan Emfinger from just outside Justin's private room at the Joseph M Still Burn Center in Augusta, Ga. Mr. Emfinger said "Justin is responding very well. He is able open his left eye, talk a little, has walked around a bit and is eating on his own.".   If things continue to go well, it is reported that Justin will begin his first of several skin graft surgeries this Friday.  Skin taken from his lower back and thigh will be used to begin the grafts on his face, behind his left ear, left part of his chin and left part of his neck.  As reported, other surgeries will be planned pending the results of this Friday scheduled surgery.

Justin was accidentally injured during a recent explosion when he received burns to his left side, arm, neck and face.  He has had several operations to stabilized the burned  area and repair damage.  "As Doctors began the first operation it was discovered that the burns were 'deeper' than expected. So, things have taken longer.  However ... Justin has rallied with his strong will and spirit to make great progress' said his father, Bryan.

As Bryan Emfinger spoke to FCNews Staff this morning, he reminded us of what he had said several days ago  ... He said 'I wish I could thank each and everyone personally for all the support and prayers over the last several days and now weeks.  The community support has been great.  The sign on the fence at Justin's school meant a lot to him. Keep us in your prayers".

The Justin Emfinger Fund has been set-up at Bank of Franklin for special donations to aid with the cost of his medical expenses.  You may make a donation to the fund at any office or branch location of The Bank of Franklin

Also, the family of 11 year old Justin has created a CaringBridge.org website to update and keep family and friends informed.  Donations are also welcomed on this site to aid the Emfinger family.
