ROXIE, MS - The local community has come together today for a special fundraiser to benefit Eric Barbato. Eric Barbato, age 46, suffered smoke inhalation and second-degree burns when his State Street resident caught fire early on Sunday morning February 12th.
Rebecca Carlton, one of several fundraiser organizers, said 'Barbato doesn’t have medical or renter’s insurance and is attempting to piece his life back together. He lost everything and has no family here, so his friends started making these plans to help him,” Carlton also said. “I know this small community pulls together anytime a tragedy happens, and we’re hoping they will come out this weekend.”
The fundraiser will be held at the Amphitheater area on the River Front in Vidalia, La from 10:00 am this morning until approximately 10:00 pm this evening. Gate donations will be $10 per person with kids under 12 getting in free.
Organizers are selling BBQ plate tickets for $7.00 each. Plate includes a half chicken, potato salad and baked beans!!!! Delivery available to local to businesses. In addition, a crawfish stand for those who love them Louisiana Mud Bugs. Your choice of boiled crawfish or crawfish ettoufee.
Raffle tickets are also being sold for $3.00 for one and $5.00 for a change to win various items including paintings, gift certificates, candles, dinners for two, and much more which were donated by local businesses.
