James A. 'Jimmy' Torrey, Jr., a well known Franklin County Attorney, was recently honored as a Leader in Law for 2011 by the Mississippi Business Journal. The new annual Journal's award recognizes Mississippi's top fifty legal professionals based on their professional and community achievements. As a member of the Mississippi Bar, Mr. Torrey, who graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law, has been an attorney for over fifty years. He is a partner in the Franklin County Law firm of McGehee, McGehee and Torrey. Mr. Torrey has served the Franklin County Supervisors and the Towns of Meadville and Bude as their board attorney during his professional career. Mr. Torrey has served as Franklin County Civil Defense Director, served on the Board of Directors of Bank of Franklin and is currently the Chairman of the Board of the that bank. Mr. Torrey is marred to the former Tammy Underwood and they reside in Meadville, Mississippi. Mr. Torrey is a member of Meadville Presbyterian Church. Congratulations goes to Franklin Counties native son for his many years of public and private dedication to service of his community.
