Memorial Service for Ms. Glenda Calcote Wilkinson

Ms. Glenda Calcote Wilkinson - September 28. 1938 / March 23,2013

A memorial Service is planned for Ms. Glenda Calcote Wilkinson on April 6, 2013 at the Bethel Methodist Church located at 2231 Goodwill Loop SW in Brookhaven, Mississippi. 


Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM with the Memorial Service beginning at 11:30 AM 

Glenda died at her home in Pompano Beach, Fl from Acute Leukemia.  She grew up in Franklin County, graduated from Meadville High School, attended Copiah Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Ms and also Belhaven College in Jackson, Ms.  After 30 years of teaching business at Dillard High School in Ft Lauderdale, Fl she retired.  She was a member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale Fl.  

Her parents were Monroe and Thelma Calcote of McCall Creek, Ms.  Her sister is Ms. Vivian Calcote Hunter of Hueytown, Ala.  Her daughter is Ms. Lisa Wilkinson Hultin of Atlanta, Ga and her Grandchildren are Claire and Pete Hultin. 

Franklin County was always very special to Ms Wilkinson.  Her laughter and joy of life will be missed by those that were a part of her life.

FAA Grounds State Agency's Toy Helicopter




BILOXI — A toy helicopter the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources planned to use to fly over marshland to monitor invasive species has been grounded.

The Federal Aviation Administration said its regulations for a toy helicopter under such circumstances are the same as those for a military predator drone.

Hospital Workers Allege Serious Wrongdoing!

JACKSON — Employees at a Veterans Administration hospital in Mississippi have reported a range of “serious wrongdoing,” including improperly sterilized instruments and missed diagnoses of fatal illnesses, an independent federal investigative agency said in a letter to the White House.

The agency said the allegations raise doubt about the facility’s ability to care for veterans.

ROXIE, MS - Through the thick & thinnest of times the doors have been open wide at Cecil's Antiques located in downtown Roxie right next door to the Roxie Post Office in Roxie, Ms. Just a short pleasant trip from Natchez or Brookhaven.   The owner, Cecil Pollan, has continued to amaze himself and others at the amount of inventory that he keeps in his store.  C B (as he is known to a some) ... knows where everything is ... just ask him for something you don't see because he's probably got it hidden among the numerous items for sale ... Cecil is an 'ole bargain trader' and is very knowledgeable about all the 'stuff' found in his store.  Drop by any afternoon, Monday - Saturday, and you will find Cecil full of conversation and plenty of 'things' in his store to catch your eye and please your pocketbook.
